some people do Brussels sprouts, some do green bean casserole, there are plenty of choices out there but my family tradition for T-day is peas with pearl onions.
it has been years since I have seen them together in the same package, at least at my local Safeway. for many years for months after T-day, I have had a half bag of frozen pearl onions leftover in the freezer until I remember to throw them in a stew or something to get rid of them.
why do they conspire to make my life so hard?

(12,051 posts)mincemeat to make a mincemeat pie. This year, I found Nonesuch brand in a glass jar, all ready to plop into the piecrust. Works for me! I can't be the only person making a mincemeat pie. Well, maybe I COULD be . . . I am an old fart.

(12,051 posts)chopped apples, etc., but I haven't seen the boxed stuff for years. I have never made it from absolute scratch. Hubby is pleased with any kind of mincemeat pie, so I'm happy, too. Now, if I'm making an apple pie, that's all from scratch. And fabulous.

(13,386 posts)you have to buy a bag each of pearl onions and peas and make the white sauce yourself.
Kali
(56,896 posts)And the ratio is off, would need 2 or 3 bags of peas for one of onions.

(813 posts)They must be a staple here in the SOuth. Frozen peas and pearl onions are always in the freezer at Kogers. Lots of people here eat creamed onions also.

(16,990 posts)I was looking for frozen peas and carrots a couple of weeks ago and picked up a package of peas and pearl onions by mistake and put it right back. I can't remember the brand, unfortunately.
They still exist. May need to talk to customer service.

(16,990 posts)Not sure you'd have them in time for TG, however.

(56,896 posts)I don't buy much from there, and very rarely groceries other than canned fish and the green cans of el pato since Safeway stopped carrying them. those are on the permanent list for people who go in there, I mostly only go in the spring to the garden section
