(36,375 posts)My home town.
I believe EVERYONE knows Hawkeye was from Crabapple Cove, Maine
Radar was from Iowa, but no clue to the town.
If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say Col. Potter was from the same town/state as Harry S Truman.
Klinger wore Mud Hens baseball jerseys, so Toledo, Ohio would be a safe guess

Trapper Chicago
Henry Bloomington IL
Radar Ottumwas IA
Mulcahy Philly
In one of the first episodes, I think they had Hawkeye born in Vermont and he had a sister and mother. Later his father was a widower and I think Hawkeye was then an only child.

(36,375 posts)Ward Cleaver work with Fred Rutherford, and Fred always talked about the salt mine, so I'm guessing Ward was a mine surveyor
I might be wrong.
red dog 1
(27,771 posts)Ward was a business man, who went to work in a large office,,
(I thought he was an engineer, but I'm not sure now)
Fred Rutherford, his friend & co-worker, was a smug, pompous man who referred to the workplace as "the salt mine."
Ward did have an office and a secretary, and he was in the SeaBees during WW ll. working as a surveyor, but that wasn't his job after he came home from the war.
