Can I-phones get Trojan Horses?

I was accessing DU when a warning notice came out of no where claiming that I had a Trojan Horse on my I-Phone and if I didn't download an approved app from Apple to clean my phone, that a third party was going to have direct access to my pictures and data. And they even set a timer that was counting down for me to download the app.

I shut down the phone and decided to research the problem first. Anyone ever heard of this? I downloaded HBOMAX and a weather app over the weekend. That's about it.

I'd suspect that the warning notice was part of the scam. Eyeball_Kid Nov 2020 #5

I had an issue with a so-called Trojan horse with my new canon printer and Apple Support helped me clean the mess up. Call them before you do anything.

It’s happened to me accessing du a few times recently.

I’m guessing it’s attached to one of ads. Piggyback.

For me it hasn’t come back for the last few days.

Apple doesn't operate in that fashion. You don't get those kinds of notices. Instead, you'd get a version update/security update that eliminates the problem for all users.

I've gotten notices from third parties telling me that my system has been compromised, and that I have to do a number of things to rid myself of the problem, the first of which is to give the third party personal information. Don't do it. If an "alert" shows up in a browser window, close the window and don't click on anything within the window.
