(1,291 posts)Toasteds variety pack is one go-to I use. Also round table water crackers bc they hold up well without breaking.

(113,947 posts)but frankly, an American audience would probably be just as happy with Ritz.

(9,606 posts)Don't get the pita thins, though, they break too easily, although they are great with salads.
For some variety, I also like melba rounds in garlic or onion flavors. These stand up to a stiff dip, and are especially good with cheese dips.

(3,719 posts)I use these pita chips with a tangy artichoke dip that I get from Costco. Yummy. You can get pita chips at Costco and at Trader Joes.
And I use plain "water crackers" for cheese. Most grocery stores will have these, but you can get better varieties at smaller, boutique grocery stores.

(4,671 posts)We usually do Ritz, Tostitos, or Nut Thins varieties for cheese balls/dips, Triscuits (plain or savory) varieties for the Chopped Beef ball/dip and a soft pillowy but buttery club cracker for the seafood, lobster, crab, or shrimp snacks. We serve these with a mixed fresh veggie tray, a fresh fruit tray, and sometimes, a shrimp cocktail platter - wine and/or egg nog or sparkling water beverages and homemade cookies, Jordan almonds, M&Ms, lemon dots, or small peppermint cane candies.

(6,309 posts).... of all the crackers suggested here next to the dip. It's just an opinion, but I am pretty sure the only empty plate will be the one that held the Club Crackers, which I mean the original Club Crackers, not a substitute.

(27,633 posts)Really don't like flavored crackers when used with a well flavored dip. Why distort the flavor of the dip. Only use flavored crackers with a cheddar or other cheeses.

(15,805 posts)I like to buy a bunch of different breads like rye, pumpernickel, herb breads, sourdough, and breads with lots of visible seeds and nuts. Cut them into either square or triangle shaped quarters, other fun shapes can be cut with cookie cutters, then lightly toast them all.

(1,940 posts)It has to be plain original type, too, none of the icky flavors.
A variety of crackers, including 1 that is gluten free, is always a good idea!

(35,971 posts)always had the best Hors d'oeuvres, one WAS A TOASTED BAGUETTE with a slice of tomato, a slab Mozzarella, a sprinkling of oregano spice and some parsley. TO DIE FOR. Hmmmmmmmm toasted baguettes.......did not think of that. Thank you.

(36,925 posts)Works better with soft cheeses. A popular one in France is a soft cheese topped with smoked salmon. The problem is you can't get good brie or camembert in the US. So I use either creme fraiche or chevre. Make sure you serve it with champagne.

Just a good, regular cracker - no psychoactive ingredients.

(63,221 posts)Simple, tasty, sturdy, but not overpowering. You have to get the Red Oval Farms brand from Canada. They are the best.
I also love Finn Crisp Finnish Crisp bread. They are very thin, long rectangular crackers/crispbreads and come in a variety of flavors such as the original rye, caraway rye (my favorite), whole grain, multi-grain, sourdough, etc. They are made in Finland with the simplest ingredients, no preservatives or extras and they are very high in fibre, low calorie. Also, they are delicious. They don't go stale easily either.
Another great option is just to get a good crusty loaf of artisan French or Italian bread and cut it into smaller pieces (crusty on the outside, soft and yeasty on the inside). There is nothing like a really great loaf of well-made bread. It's also really great if you brush it with a little EVOO (and garlic if you like) and throw it on the grill for a few minutes.
I like Carr's Table Water Crackers, but they tend to crumble easily. However I love the delicate taste and the flavor doesn't compete with whatever you are serving them with.
