Three years ago today, I starred in Blade Runner,

aka the Atlanta airport during a total blackout. After hours on the runway there were still 40 planes ahead of us to use the portable stairs.

Once inside, among shadows and ghosts lit with people's lighters and phones held up, I walked up and down corridors and dark frozen escalators to the outside, and joined a long line waiting for shuttles to rental cars. It was raining.

On the plane, I had booked a car and a hotel room. My luggage had been checked through to Boston, so I only had a small carryon. The Holiday Inn lobby was jammed with people, most being turned away for lack of rooms. My reservation held.

The next day was Sunday and I'd rebooked for Monday, so I spent Sunday walking around downtown Atlanta. It was very quiet. I didn't know this mural was there. I took this picture and just stood there a while.

Three years have passed, and seeing this made it all worthwhile.
