Why was it so bright out last night (snow storm).

Last night, at least two of us in our building noticed how bright it was outside. It was all white, because it was snowing heavily (between 2 and 4 am). But our building has no outside lights. We are on the 9th floor and our building is at the top of a hill... almost no light nearby (cemeteries on two sides, the lights of a city well over a mile across a river). We have windows on 3 sides of our bedroom, and all looked the same. Bright (for the middle of the night) white.

Does anyone know how to find out where the moon was at that time for a particular location? That's all I can think of, a big bright moon behind the clouds.

It’s everywhere these days. Cheap ultra bright leds without shading. Security lights everywhere. Motion sensor lights going in on every driveway. Neighborhoods lit up like prison yards.
