'Love Actually' - Fun and sweet or cringey?

We just watched 'Love Actually' for about the sixth or seventh time.

There are some absolutely brilliant performances, little 'Easter Egg' appearances by noted actors, fun music, and a very English sensibility.

I've seen some people online go after the plot and characters, and yet it made us both teary.

There are some definite laughs in it, a few sad moments, some cringey bits.
But it's worth watching even though it's flawed: The Liam Neeson/Thomas Brodie Sangster scenes, Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon, the final concert in the school with a cameo by Tom Godley, Bill Nighy as the no filter aging pop singer and his manager, Colin Firth and Lúcia Moniz, Jeanne Moreau getting in a taxi at Marseille Airport, Rowan Atkinson as a kind of 'deus ex-machina' in two different scenes, the relationship between Laura Linney and her brother. Plus there's the added bonus of seeing Hugh Grant figuratively smack around the Billy Bob Thornton character. And the front and end title sequences are gorgeous.

The scene with Alan Rickman and Rowan Atkinson having the necklace wrapped makes me laugh every time.

One of my favorite movies of all time. I'll probably watch it on the 23rd this year.

Plots of all Rom-Coms:

1. Boy meets girl
2. They date
3. Girl dumps boy
4. Boy stalks girl til she gives in

This is romantic?

1. Boy meets girl
2. Boy and girl date
3. Sex is involved
4. Girl dumps boy because he is an idiot and deserves to be dumped
5. Boy stalks girl until she gives in????????
