(16,949 posts)For me, it's "murder shows" i.e. "Forensic Files", etc. Your shows are a lot healthier than mine, LOL.

(19,382 posts)I know many in the United States like the shoot em up, violent movies. But hallmark allows a break from reality. There awesome and even brought a lot of diversity into them.

They are good for that.

(8,514 posts)Well, only when my husband was home. He didn't actually ban them, but he sucked all of the joy out of watching a lot of programs that I wanted to watch, so I was basically only allowed to watch something he didn't like when he was gone.
So now I can watch whatever I want. I prefer action and suspense, but sometimes I enjoy the ones that some here are ridiculing. I'm not going to allow anyone to make me feel "less than" for watching something I feel like watching.

Skittles
(171,620 posts)not having to consider the opinion of anyone else when choosing what to watch or binge on?
When the last season of Ozark came out, I watched it in two days.
I couldn't watch a lot of the sitcoms I liked whenever he was around. The only thing I complained about him watching was FauxNews. I finally decided one day that I had enough, and considering that I was the one who was paying the cable bill, and I couldn't watch what I wanted, I cut it all off except for the basic package. He was LIVID when his precious FauxNews was gone. I could hardly keep from laughing at the way he was acting.
We should never have been married to each other. I LOVE living alone.
I was in a clothing store when I saw a teenage girl excitedly asking her boyfriend what he thought of a blouse - he glanced at it and said I HATE IT.....she looked crushed and put it back.....i went to her and said YOU WOULD LOOK GREAT IN THAT....she said she really liked it...I said girl, you can ask a guy his opinion but DON'T LET HIM MAKE YOUR DECISIONS FOR YOU. BUY IT! And she did.
oh and by the way, him watching Fox News would have been enough for me to kick his ass to the curb, yes INDEED

(8,514 posts)He didn't change his voter registration, but he bought everything he heard on Fox. Hook, line and sinker.
He called me out of the blue last weekend, and I stupidly answered. First he asked me a question about a legal matter, and then, about the third thing he said was, "What do you think about our country going to socialism?" I told him I don't watch right-wing propaganda.
Then he started in on wanting the family back. It was hilarious.

(130,461 posts)Check out Netflix' "Home for Christmas" (watch the first series before watching Part 2 so you get the back-story). It's a romantic-ish comedy with unexpected and often very bawdy twists and some really goofy characters.

(37,984 posts)Whenever we went to see her in her assisted living apartment, she had one of them on.
She passed away last year, and in spite of our contentious relationship (at times) I miss her. I'd put up with one of them to spend an afternoon with her.
It's funny. I didn't think I'd miss her, but I do.
