I went to a furniture store earlier this week looking for a large couch.
The saleslady showed me a nice one and said, "This couch will seat 5 people without any problems!"
I began laughing uncontrollably and asked, "Where the hell am I going to find 5 people without any problems?!"

(161 posts)shopping for weeks. At 6' 4" plus an 80 lb catahoula ain't easy... I guess the wife should be there too.
But by GOD I will use that line when given that statement yet again.
Must be in the couch salesperson handbook.

(21,438 posts)when searching for a couch. I am 5'1" and if the depth of the seat is too great, my legs dangle like a child. If I sit forward so they don't dangle, then my back hurts after a while. I look for couches with seating areas that are not too high and not set too far back. Then I try sitting on them to see if the cushions are comfortable - and firm enough that I don't sink down into them.
OTOH, I always have enough length to lie down on them. Hell, I can use a love seat for that.

(6,854 posts)is that it remined me of another joke
Which involved a military unit having suffered some casualries, including the loss of a Corporal Peters, who had been very popular.
The unit made its way to a bawdy house - the OIC was greeted by the madam and asked how many of them there were -
He answered, "Well, Ma'am, there are 31 of us without Peters."
