My Libertarian coworker/friend got me the funniest Christmas present!

He got knitted American flag scarves or hats (the kind with ear flaps) for everyone on the kitchen staff except me. My gift:

Handed the box to me last, while blasting the old USSR Anthem on his phone.

We laughed so hard, I thought my boss was going to pee her pants.
I rocked the hat for at least two hours, until I had to start running orders outside to the pickup tables, where a customer might see it and think we are crazy (or maybe I should say find out we are crazy)

I’ve been wearing it tonight whenever I go out on the deck for a smoke. It’s nice and warm.

He calls me a Commie and I work in comments about bootstraps and how the free market will save him whenever we are in the weeds. And prepper/militia jokes whenever possible, of course.

It lasts 3 1/2 minutes, the remaining is a replay with Spanish subtitles.

I just tell 'em that I'm actually quite middle of the road --

midway between the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks

and then wish them "Happy Holidays" which sets them off (War on Christmas and all that)

An avid supporter of FDR (or DDE, in truth!) these days could go down in flames as a "socialist," one of the most famous and fatuous labels, entirely lacking in content in almost every case and brimming with intolerance of the First Amendment. Not to mention being extremely antithetical to the biblical teachings of Christ, which they often pretend to have some insight on.

including the owner and her husband. We have a lot of fun and it’s nice having some very smart, funny coworkers (and bosses). I’m still the “new girl” and I’ve been there for a year and a half, so all we all know each other very well.

We are helping one coworker study for her citizenship test and often get derailed by heated debates. Honestly, I think she gets exasperated by us going off topic so much. Then, she’s curious and we end up having to explain things that won’t be on the test (like why I call him McCarthy). At least she’s getting a well-rounded study group, lol!

We are going to be in trouble when customers can finally come back inside the building because we’ve gotten to be very loud and rowdy. Thank goodness we are able to work when so many in our industry have lost their jobs and even their businesses. My coworkers have definitely helped to keep me sane in 2020.

Because that is what libertarian voting tendencies yield the American libertarian in policy effects in this era.

They are really warm and authentic Ushankas can be hard to come by. Look at this pretty white one.

It's so nice to have a coworker that gets you and is so generous! The Beatles song was a nice touch.

Merry Christmas, happybird.

It just shows how little understanding your friend really has about political history.

The USSR was never liberal or progressive, except in the beginning when they were anti-monarchy. Once they killed off the Romanoffs, the Russians just proceeded straight to authoritarianism. It could be argued that some American Democrats (80 or 90 years ago) were sympathetic to the philosophy of communism; however the USSR never practiced communism, so our Democratic Party was never pro-Russian or pro-Soviet.

It's funny how libertarians just smoosh everything into one giant bag that fits their silly assumptions. It saves them trouble of having to think very hard.
