1. Yes
Very interesting visually, but I found the writing disappointing.
It does have a nice melancholy vibe, if that suits you, all the way to the end. |

4. Gave it a C- no real story, impossible scenarios.. not one of his best efforts

5. Extremely slow moving, poor (little) writing, and ultimately, a predictable ending.

7. Watched last night
I thought it entertaining, but hubby was bored. Hard to follow though. Scenes popping up with no explanation. One of those films that you need to pay absolute attention to or you miss what's happening all together. Not one of the best. I give it three stars.

8. I liked the production values
but like post 4 said: impossible scenarios. The twist at the end was a surprise but not integral or necessary with the rest of the movie.
Solid C from my POV. |

9. I liked it.
Took a bit to get into the rhythm of wartime flashbacks and imaginary relationships that were part of his man's profound mental illness. Once I realized that I was a voyeur, seeing through this man's crippling injuries everything clicked into place. The buildup to the poignant ending was startling, but very much in keeping with the portrayal of the man's shattered life.
I thought George Clooney was excellent. I did not even recognize him so his movie star status did not overshadow the storyline. Is role is very cerebral and I was drawn into the character he played. |

10. Yeah, it's good. I'd give it an A for effort. B- for plot line problems.

12. Too many mulligans, too many dots that don't connect.
Entertaining but unsatisfying in the end.
The sound track by Alexandre Desplat is quite interesting. |

13. Muddled
Beautifully filmed, but the characters never really developed.
Clooney's character mumbled almost unintelligibly through the scenes, the kid wasn't explained at all until the end and even then it made little sense. Overall, a disappointment. Now, Soul, that's another story! |

14. I too thought the production values were great -
almost overwhelmed the story. I distractedly was aware of how well-financed the movie must be, with Clooney the director, star.
Agree about the character development. My daughter figured it out first. It was a film that left me thinking. The theme of thermonuclear destruction of our planet was indeed poignant and resonant. Also the theme of family - fathers sacrificing family for ambition. Clooney has twin 3 year olds at home. |

15. Good take
Sadly, the threat of thermonuclear destruction isn't sci-fi anymore.
I do agree with your family angle and Clooney's performance does include a healthy dose of empathy. Yeah, great sets! |

16. Was ok. Slow. Fast forward through some of it.
Highly improbable.
Spoiler : See below"....... Didn’t realize little girl (Iris) was a figment of his imagination until after the end. Actually had to google it to make sure that was what she was. |

17. I enjoyed it.
Not great, but not as bad as some of the critics said. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. I love good sci-fi movies and I thought the special effects were quite will done. Love when the crew all sang "Sweet Caroline", even though I can't stand that song
