What I would find sad is if the Square was packed with people. What better way to send out this past year with respect to the 345K that died and the front line men and women that were there to do their best to save them.

a pic of tons of people (mostly young folk, of course) having a grand old time while ignoring the COVID.

I agree - respect - and perhaps a wave of common sense and maybe even some respect for SCIENCE!!!!

GOD BLESS our health care workers - they have made a new year possible for so many.

I find this heartening. New Yorkers get it and they are not going to contribute to the problem, they will do their best to stop it from spreading. I admire their collective respect and cooperation for their fellow citizens, first responders and healthcare workers. Well done, New Yorkers!

It's sad that there can't be a crowd this year, but at least people have enough sense not to gather - so in that sense it's not sad at all.

empty is sad, the fact that the Square IS empty is encouraging.

On the other hand, even in normal times, I always found that scene disturbing.are those people f'n ?NUTS?????
