Salad fork for comparison. I mislaid mine but found it in the bottom of a drawer.

(118,767 posts)a huge knife and a sharpener. They would have come in a box lined with fabric. You don't need three holes in a turkey to stabilize it for carving. Stabilizing it with a huge fork with two tines is good enough.

(12,674 posts)You can get them, just not individually. The three prong one is a carving server.

(4,394 posts)It's a large and sharp two-tined fork with a large black open handle at the end. I use it most often to lift a bird or roast out of the roasting pan and then hold the meat down for carving on a carving board. It's usually buried on the bottom of my utensil drawer or along the side -- it's that sharp and pointy! Never recall that it had a carving knife that matched????? so it's probably going on 50 years old. It might have come with other larger utensils - a large slotted spoon and a large ladle may be made of the same handle material. I call it out of the drawer by its name just like I call my vegetable peeler..."Here, peeler, peeler, peeler." Both respond by magically appearing in the chaos of other utensils, gadgets, and special knives for, say, watermelon, boning fish, or the cleaver for whacking ribs apart. It's really quite dangerous to go rummaging in those kitchen drawers, so I call to them instead. It works! Made me look - on back: SEAPS Stainless JAPAN.

(9,581 posts)I use them when carving a ham or poultry to stabilize the meat. I also use them to transfer heavier pieces of meat to a serving platter. Also good for grilling as it keeps you away from the heat and flames. A very practical and useful item, never thought of it as an oddity.
