The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy strangest dream ever....Lightning / Explosion could have sworn I was awake.
Welcome to the world of over share!
I have a sleep disorder & I commonly wake many times a night. Condition has been stable 12+ years. So I'm lying in bed trying to get back to sleep. I thought to myself it was very quiet and actually thought to myself "too quiet". Immediately just outside my window I heard a explosion sharp extremely loud-like a thunder strike very close. It was odd there was no echo
It was so startling I remember my Conure reacting & my small doggie woke up also & wanted on the big bed. I went to the bathroom and wrote the time down so I could check my camera's. I also looked out the window and the sky was mostly clear-zero chance of lightning.
I have 2 working security cams with sound & it recorded freeway traffic far off, trains passing & a plane flying over. But no explosion or flash. It was only after listening to both camera's for a full hour did I realize it probably was a dream. Nobody else heard it and I have no other explanation.
I can only surmise I reacted to it & startled my critters but like I said-I could swear I was awake & they reacted instantly.
This one was the night before last. So very weird I figured I'd give the lounge a "crack" at it

Thanks everyone!. I'm not crazy well maybe just a little but I have a exploding head. My wife will be impressed.
But I will relate this to my Dr. and hope it NEVER happens again.

(5,854 posts)I have no idea why, although the Mayo article mentions ear disorders. I have some kind of neuropathy in my inner ear that causes dizziness, so maybe that has something to do with it.
