(26,406 posts)I actually saw them filming at the firehouse! 😁
Oh, I didn't know what it was - but I noticed there
was what I called "a Casper The Ghost with an International No Symbol over it" Sign hanging over
the door!
I was totally intrigued. Unfortunately it was
like late Nov in the evening by the quite westside of Tribecca near The Hudson River cold, and windy (like today was). I'd just came out of a new health food & grocery store after finishing my 9 to 5 with loads of groceries. Tired, cold, etc I decided not to get closer. Ah, well.
Then when I saw the movie - "omg, I saw that!!!
😂😂😂

(64,607 posts)Or another Grant vehicle "Front Page"
Stuart G
(38,726 posts)csziggy
(34,189 posts)So is Front Page, but the Cary Grant version was His Girl Friday made in 1940 with Rosalind Russell and Ralph Bellamy. The original 1931 version had Adolphe Menjou, Pat O'Brien, and Peggy Grant.
I actually even liked the 1974 version with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and especially Carol Burnett's Molly Malloy.

(10,108 posts)I have Arsenic and Old Lace on my DVR. I normally go to sleep to it every night. IMHO, It's a PERFECT movie. Carey Grant was at his very best. And the entire cast is perfect as well.

"I'm gonna go home and bite my pillow" and "You're bastard people" - two of my favorite lines!
Stuart G
(38,726 posts)when the movie was playing in the theater, I became a nuisance. A couple of us thought the scene was absolutely funny....but some didn't get it....
You will know what scene if you watch it...and Yes, you will laugh at most of this film. (at least I did)
Upthevibe
(10,108 posts)I LOVED There's Something About Mary. There were many, many scenes that made me laugh 'till I cried but I think I know which scene you're speaking of...

(10,108 posts)Absolutely! I LOVE My Cousin Vinny!
Karadeniz
(24,731 posts)How the whole mess is going to disappear... And then the lawyer starts stuttering... I can barely breathe from laughing so hard and my eyes are tearing up... Oh! The scene in the jail cell when the nephew's friend thinks Vinny is propositioning him for sex! That has to be one of the best scripts ever written!

That and Groundhog Day.
My favorite part is when Marisa Tomei testifies.

Upthevibe
(10,108 posts)Groundhog Day (IMHO) exceeds a "typical" funny movie. Even though it IS very funny- there turns out to be quite a bit of depth that kind of takes it to another level.
TexasBushwhacker
(21,120 posts)There was a short film called 12:01pm that was made 3 years before Groundhog Day where a man repeats the same hour over and over. It was a drama and was nominated to for an Oscar. You can check it out here:

"Don't drive angry."
Other than My Cousin Vinny, it's my second favorite movie to watch over and over.

(34,189 posts)With a young John Forsythe, Jerry Mathers before he played Beaver, and Shirley MacLaine in her first movie role. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, it is a very subtle comedy. I love the feel of rural Vermont and the characters.
It can be seen on Classic Reels streaming or Prime Video.

(38,726 posts)One of the greatest directors of animation....Chuck Jones...
There was a an art show where he was selling some animated cells. I met him for a few moments and shook
his hand if I recall. Last 30 years or so, learning and knowing about cartoons (esp Warner Bros. cartoons) has
been a hobby of mine. I grew up in the 50s where the local movie theater always showed the latest Warner
Brothers cartoons. That is how my love of cartoons started. On special holidays when school was called off
(like Washington's Birthday) that theater had toon shows, 25 cartoons, one after another for 25 cents...
