(8,048 posts)You probably know this, but the original appeared on S & G's first album, "Wednesday Morning 3am" which was a flop when released. But a DJ in New York City loved this track so much he played it again and again, and Tom Wilson heard it. Wilson was Bob Dylan's producer, and HE loved the song so much he got hold of the master, and had Dylan's band from "Bringing It All Back Home" overdub drums and bass and electric guitar. Simon had moved to England where he was busking and playing coffee houses, and recorded a solo album "The Paul Simon Songbook." Garfunkel was back in college--the duo having broken up after the 'failure" of their first album. The song became a hit without either of them knowing, but when they found out they got back together and the rest, as they say, is history.
Enjoy!
