There's a vid on YouTube of a plow in operation and the audio indicates they have a chase vehicle...

I think I would be white knuckled on the break and throttle thinking of the possibilities.

With a guy on the radio who can clearly see what is ahead, and talking to the engineer. Telling him its OK to accelerate, etc.
I looked but I cant find it.
But it seems to me that if they need to call out a plow, it is safe to say they have a clear and open line!

Smaller roads could use a spotter, I've heard of that.

the engineer see through that cloud of snow? And that sure was a long train.
