divide us? Is there a competing rule of thought that defiantly believes the science is on their side to leave all poops behind?

(1,093 posts)there seems to be a direct correlation between leaving the poop and the size if the dog. The closer the dog is to pony size, the more likely the pile will be left for others to enjoy.
That's not even counting those who leave full poop bags on the sidewalk. What's up with that?
Now excuse me while I shake my fist at the clouds.

(46,699 posts)I was carrying too many things with me and didn't notice it, until I got home. And even then, I ran back to fetch it.
I have seen someone hide their bags when the dog pooped early in the walk, and they were planning to take a long walk. The concept was that they would pick the bag up when they returned.
I'm guessing that they may have forgotten.
Aside from those two exceptions, can't think of one good reason to leave a bag behind.

(5,931 posts)I see it all the time - full bags of dog poop tossed hither and yon through the parks and trails around here. Passive agressiveness and entitlement run amuck

Me, I don't care. The fact that they pick it up at all is golden with me.

(4,750 posts)Because where I live, the sanitation workers will leave my trash or recycling behind if theres someone elses dogs shit thrown in our containers. And I dont blame them for that, but I dont want to have to get rid of that someone elses dogs shit.
Its not coming into my house with the left-behind trash or recycling, and I dont really see why I have to handle those bags because one of my neighbors is a selfish slob.

my sanitation workers don't dig through the trash looking for shit in a plastic bag. They just happily take it away.
No fuss, no bother.
I'm sorry about your situation.

(7,294 posts)Your sanitation workers what?? They recognize your dog shit? wtf?
Good catch!
The dog shit bags are thrown on top of trash put out by me. If sanitation workers see it, they wont collect that containers trash.

Our sanitation workers are great, but not psychic.

(14,274 posts)I'm on my condo board and, being the fiscally responsible person that I am, voted to raise our association fees so we could maintain minimal services. I had a former board member respond by bringing her dog to leave a deuce at the edge of our sidewalk nightly. She never talked to us, but she definitely let me know what she thought of me.
No worries. I am not confrontational. I just started spraying my lawn with a mixture of diluted vinegar after dark for a few weeks. The dog didn't like the smell and the mystery packages stopped.
The last time I saw her she mentioned that she thought my house was haunted because her dog did not want to walk on my lawn. She said he seemed spooked.

(46,699 posts)The incident that started this post was similar to yours. For months the neighbor brought her leashed dog behind our property to allow it to poop and never picked up the remains. Then, on Friday, the cameras showed how she walked the dog to the middle area behind my property with the dog on a leash, and on her way back, the dog was off the leash. It had the freedom to approach our yard and dropped a deuce just a few feet from the rear of our property, while the owner hid behind a tree.
Then, on Saturday, the loose dog came running into my yard with her owner following behind it. A clear trespass. As she was leaving with the dog I ran out and shouted, "And when your dog poops behind my house, could you pick up up the poop."
Not sure why anyone would think I was asking for too much. Seems like a reasonable request.
I knew about the sprinkling the yard with pepper trick, but I didn't want to do anything like that because I want a welcoming habitat for birds, rabbits etc.

(103 posts)I'm a daily walker of three BIG dogs--walked separately for my safety and their individual quality time. My Newfie, St. Bernard, Great Pyr and I--me being the biggest guy in our fairly dense city neighborhood--are very recognizable on our outings.
Walking my friends with a distinctive bag-o-poop in hand is best described in two words: Virtue Signaling

(16,334 posts)neighbors divided like you would not believe! But it has been this way for years even before there was an app to talk about it, lol. I have spent too much time thinking about it myself, wondering why some believe dog poop on a lawn is as natural as the sun rising every day while others think it's rude and unacceptable.
Baitball Blogger
(46,699 posts)I had a friend who would break it down into the lawn by hosing it. I saw her doing it while the kids were playing just a few feet away. A google search claims that dog poop does not make good fertilizer, because the poop is usually high in protein, which means it will burn the lawn.
And, in my case, if that neighbor thought it was harmless, why isn't she pooping her dog in her own yard? She has plenty of room.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)mind you, I love their dog and I take care of it for them all the time. I am on good terms with this neighbor. But when the dog was a puppy, they would bring her into our yard on a leash and have her poop every morning. Every day. I finally went out mid-poop and explained that this was not good for the pup. She would think THIS was the place where she is supposed to poop. Then other dogs would think it was the place to pee and poop. And we didn't want to scoop up other people's dog poo when we have our own dogs (in the backyard). First, there was denial. Then I said if it was alright with them, I'd take my two pony sized dogs over to their yard (which they keep professionally landscaped, lol) and let them leave their sausages on the lawn.
Then they stopped bringing her over but did take her to another neighbor's yard across the street where there is a a patch of ivy. At some point, someone else must have said something because I saw they had poop bags tied to the leash and I saw them pick up the poo. And when I walk her, there are bags on the leash.
Still happens in our yard on occasion when the pup runs free.
