Gah, I hate insomnia.

I don't get it often, but when I do--like this morning--it's so annoying, lol.

And I know that I'll be useless by 2:00 p.m. Oh, well. At least my cat, Rosie, will be happy. She loves curling up on my lap for an afternoon nap.

And today is supposed to be the last day of relatively mild weather. We're under a Winter Weather Advisory for 2-4" of snow and wind gusts of up to 40 mph, then the lake effect snow machine kicks in for the weekend and early next week. With it being breezy, it'll bring the snow bands as far inland as here in Lansing so we could get up to 8" total, but that's nothing compared to near Lakes Michigan & Superior where they could get up to 2+ feet. I do not miss those days living close to the lake.

I hope everybody has a great day!

I’ve been up over 30+ hours and could not fall asleep. I avoid looking at the time because the frustration delays sleep even further.

I hope you’ll get some rest soon.

There are two kinds of insomniacs: Those who are not bothered by it at all, and those who can't stand it, but have to live with it anyway. I'm the latter type.

The good point is that it gives you extra time to do stuff; I have learned many many things by reading when I couldn't sleep.

The bad point, at least for those of the second kind, is that you often feel exhausted. People of the first kind, who don't mind insomnia, are often high performers.

You say you don't get it often. Consider yourself fortunate. I recall it from my early childhood; it's worse than ever as an old man.

I tossed and turned until 6, trying to get back to sleep, but I had too much pent up energy. I haven't slept so fitfully since Inauguration Day.

I have one of those headaches that are triggered by a muscle knot in my shoulder and nothing eased it, last night. I finally fell asleep at about 2 and was back awake before 6. I might try taking a long soak in a hot, lavender scented Epson Salts bath, this afternoon.

Since this is my "Aldi Day", I'll be there as soon as they open at 8:30. When I get home, the car goes into the garage for the rest of the week. We're only forecast to get between 2 and 4" of snow in the Flint area. Hopefully just 2 because my shoulder is still sore from my last battle starting the snow blower. Regardless, the bitter cold is enough to keep me inside, sitting in front of a roaring fireplace, watching 'Game of Thrones'. (Almost through the first season.)

I LOVE Michigan, 3 out of 4 seasons. This is the 4. I hate it.

On top of the nearly one foot of snow last weekend, we look forward to a few more inches with sleet mixed in for good measure today!

Retiring in Mexico sounds better and better.

I often suffer from "monkey mind" in the middle of the night where I start ping-ponging in my head about all the issues in my life.

A couple of tabs of melatonin usually help me back to sleep.
