Was this a dream or reality?
My day started like this. I was asleep, or thought I was asleep.
Then I heard someone yelling. Maybe yelling at me. Or maybe they weren't yelling, but that was my perception at the time. It was a guy saying something like:
THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS NOT IN FACT A REAL POLITICAL PARTY! THEY ONLY PRETEND TO BELIEVE IN POLICIES LIKE FREE TRADE, LOW DEBT AND DEFICITS!
Then I realize it sounds like Chris Hayes yelling at me.
OCCASIONALLY THEY DO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING LIKE ANTI-IMMIGRATION OR ANTI-ABORTION POLICIES BUT IT'S ONLY TO APPEASE PARTICULAR FACTIONS OF THE BASE!
Yes, yes, that's Chris Hayes! Whoa, I'm having a conversation with Chris Hayes! Only it's kind of a one-way conversation.
THE REPUBLICAN PARTY SUCH AS IT IS IS UNITED ONLY IN THEIR DESIRE TO UTTERLY DESTROY DEMOCRATS, PROGRESSIVES AND LIBERALS! THAT IS THE ONLY REASON THEY EXIST!
And I'm like, Yes, yes, I know this. Tell it, brother! Except, I already know this. Why are you yelling at me?
Then suddenly I was in Chris Hayes' office, people rushing about being productive, in some kind of high rise building, and it was daytime. I was an assistant of some kind, sitting at a desk and I was unable to get any work done because I was so depressed about politics. Chris Hayes, who for some bizarre reason had his left arm in a cast, was walking around the office and he patted me on the shoulder with his good arm and he said, "I'm despondent too. But we have to pull the show together for tonight."
Then my alarm woke me up, and a rerun of the Rachel Maddow program was playing from my Sirius radio.
And I was disappointed to be awakened, because I really wanted to know what it was like to work for Chris Hayes, and also wanted to find out what happened to his arm.
