Personally, I love snickerdoodles. They remind me of my childhood, taste delicious and smell great. Plus I like the silly name. My other favorite is Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. I like replacing the usual raisins with chocolate chips.

I'm almost surprised that I didn't cough out black cocoa powder when I ate them in the past.
Like this gif of cinnamon powder, but with black powder instead:

Otherwise a really good regular Choc chip with dark choc chunks. 👍

(28,493 posts)I totally mastered them when I lived in Kansas. Fresh out of the oven the were an orgasmic combination of chewy and crunchy. Fifteen minutes later, when cooled off, meh. Not so appealing. As far as I was concerned, they weren't worth eating.
Oh, and I also made that recipe with butterscotch chips and pecan nuts instead of walnuts. Equally wonderful.
A reasonably close second is Cowboy Cookies, a recipe from a family friend from the 1950s. Sigh. They are a sort of cross between chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, but you can't take one recipe and add the other ingredient. It's more subtle than that. I sometimes use butterscotch chips and call it Cowgirl Cookies.
A while back, when I was still working, on Fridays I'd bring some sort of baked goods to work. I'd say, I love to bake and I'm glad I have co-workers to help me out. Cowboy and cowgirl cookies, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, all were what I prepared. My coworkers were appreciative, and I was glad to share.

(5,393 posts)They are cookies my Mom makes at Christmas- kinda like a sugar cookie dough with cream cheese in it, a little almond extract, rolled in chopped walnuts, with half of a maraschino cherry tucked into the top of each. Yum.
Otherwise, Chocolate Chip, and I also like Oatmeal Chocolate Chip (not a big fan of raisins, in general).
There are very few cookies Ive met and have not liked.

Oatmeal Supremes are my basic oatmeal cookie recipe made with ripe bananas, crushed toffee bars and chopped nuts.

Big soft sugar cookies my PA Dutch grandma made, my daughter and I have continued the tradition. They have a unique not-too-sweet flavor from the secret ingredient, buttermilk. Easy to make too.

(11,854 posts)For the holidays, I make double batches and divide the dough in three. Then I add green coloring to 1/3, red coloring to 1/3, and the remainder stays as is. The cookies look pastel after being sugared, and then a burst of color when bitten.

(5,393 posts)I remember looking through it every Christmas when I was a kid. She used to make at least a dozen different kinds of cookies and give platters to the neighbors, our teachers, the mailman, etc, etc. These days, shes down to about six different types, all of which go well with coffee or a cup of tea.

But I don't like them fresh from the oven. To me they taste best cold from the fridge, when the chips are hardened, with a cup of tea.
For some reason, I prefer even chocolate candy to be refrigerator cold.

They are my daughter's favorites.
I also love Spicy Mexican Chocolate cookies. They are the kind you can freeze in a log and slice later. These things are awesome and have a bit of a kick. When I take them to an event, I never bring any home.
