Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI got the Moderna vaccine this morning!
The arm is definitely sore, and I feel vaguely "funky," but so far, nothing worse than how I feel after a flu vaccine.
I'm really excited about the technology behind this vaccine, so this is something about which it is fun to think. Hell, I'm so happy I'll violate my grammatical rule that "A preposition is a part of speech one should never end a sentence with and say, "This is something fun to think about."
My 2nd dose is exactly 30 days away.
I got it at Princeton Penn Medicine Hospital (West Windor, NJ), where they had a very streamlined flow beginning with a short medical review. They scheduled the second dose during the 15 minute required recovery period. I was in and out in less than a half hour.
The staff was friendly, professional, & efficient. I have nothing but praise for the process.
It was a wonderful experience, and I feel great having made it to the first vaccine without contracting the disease.
I also found out this week that the hypochondria by which I was convincing myself that the symptoms I'm having were cancer apparently aren't cancer.
It doesn't get any better than this.

(33,516 posts)...I'm a chronic insomniac of the second kind. An insomniac of the first kind is someone who doesn't sleep much and doesn't care, but just does stuff; an insomniac of the second kind is one who doesn't sleep, does stuff, but who is tired and whiny and cranky because they didn't sleep.
My tiredness thus may be from the fact that I was up a lot last night.

So far no pain, no discomfort, no feeling bad.
Nothing at all. Arm not even sore.
2nd shot in 30 days.
Experience was very good, in and out in a half hour.
I am thrilled as I was fearing the worst.

(23,629 posts)When I got my 1st shot, I commented to the young lady who was about to jab me
I think I had COVID last March to which she replied everybody has had it 😳
It left me thinking how so many asymptomatic carriers there must be, and hoping these shots will hopefully start the end to this mess we are all in ...
Glad you got stabbed 😷 stay masked
✌🏻
That's great news, on both fronts.

(8,049 posts)sore than it had been previously. I'm on day 3 of that. It's not in any way disabling, and I believe it was CaliforniaPeggy that had the same reaction. Several people on DU have said their friend/family member had the same experience with Moderna.
My next shot is on the 4th of March. I'm so looking forward to having a full vaccine protection! The masks, however, are pretty much going to continue indefinitely. And I'm fine with that.

(22 posts)Moderna. Got a Marvel Comic (Jean Grey) bandaid (it was at the county health department and there are also cartoon PSA stickers stuck on the inside of the exam room door.. up to about the doorknob. Same as it's been since I moved here 30 years ago and went there for some booster shots in my early 20s. They are hoping to build a new health dept bldg starting this year because the old one is bursting at the seams and falling apart, as these type of buildings are in many places across the USA, but I digress..
Last night my shoulder where I got the injection was a little stiff, and about 9pm I was hit with a wave of tiredness unlike anything I've felt in a long time. I went to bed and about an hour in, the shoulder began to protest and I had to sleep on the other one (I'm unfortunately a side sleeper, which is another reason I hate being in the hospital so much, hard to sleep on my back)
Today, I've got my coffee and I feel great, other than the sore shoulder.
I'm insulin dependent diabetic so I've been watching my BS levels and everything seems normal.
I'm very happy to finally be on this path along with you... Biden is doing his best TO GET US ALL vaccinated. I hope everyone will get one when they can!

(31,386 posts)Sore arm within a few hours. Slight rash this morning. Two hour nap yesterday afternoon. Didn't sleep well last night and had bizarre dream. Went back to bed after breakfast and slept another hour and a half this morning.
Arm is much less sore now and rash is gone.
Happily watched impeachment saga from the living room couch today and did little else.

(22,252 posts)slight fever, joint aches and he can't get warm. He is napping over on the sofa and he is very layered up!!
I got my second Pfizer yesterday as well and so far all I have to show for it is a sore arm. A little while ago I noticed my throat felt a little irritated.
I expected more of a reaction
Reading everyone's description of their experience with the actual process of getting to the actual vaccination is very encouraging - the counties seem to be on the ball with this
Our county is very organized

(14,124 posts)The first one gave me a small reaction of shaking and shortness of breath. After I was cleared to go home, the following few days I was really tired, like falling asleep for the night at 7 o'clock tired.
This one hasn't had any reaction at all. Everyone has been reacting very differently, just like the actual virus. Science is amazing!

(33,516 posts)...doctor, albeit gently "we want to rule out tumors" suggested the possibility.
It's localized and fairly constant abdominal pain. (My father described his esophageal cancer in exactly this way; it killed him.)
It seems to be an ulcer; I have a follow up this week with a gastro guy to get more information following the CT scan. This same gastro guy is always asking me to get cancer screenings because of the way my father died; however there is good evidence in the literature that my father's case was likely related to smoking. I don't smoke. On the other hand, there is also a genetic component, inasmuch as my uncle died the same way my father did.
