Hunkered down near Houston.

Texas. Wind is kicking up, rain/sleet coming down, snow expected by midnight. Plants covered, created outdoor kitty house from rubbermaid container for the ferals, checked the other spaces around the yard where they sleep. Indoor kitties curled up in their favorite spots. Get to stay home for a couple of days because of the weather. Stay safe, warm and healthy everyone!

I have family in Houston, Tomball, San Antonio n Henderson..I’ve talked to all of them n they’re ok now but have never seen anything like it. That’s what they said about the hurricane..their weather is so extreme but this is one for the books. All our DU friends in the path, take good care n be safe.

Both of my brothers used to live there. I cannot imagine the damage this will cause. Take care. Up here I am getting ready to go out and take care of the barns and the animals hoping beyond hope that they all make it. I have done all I can but a temp of -11 with a wind chill of -35 is a bit more than we are used to. They were cold this morning but OK so...one more night of it being that tragic. It will be cold for a while but not like this. I thought my lungs were freezing last night. I was late because I played a concert then had to come home and go out to do that. I think I will go soon tonight, that was NOT fun for any of us.

Be careful and be safe. Thanks for taking care of the kitties.

It is mostly hard because they are all old. Old horses and old goats. I have done all I can to make them comfortable. After this morning I hope they can make it this one more night. It should be better, although still cold, tomorrow. Poor things. I just hope my pipes are still open up there. I hate to haul water a quarter mile up the road a bucket at a time. Been there and done that but I was 15 years younger then!!

Thanks.

I remember back in the 80s when we had a couple of days of hard freeze over the Christmas holidays. Folks that were out of town came home to burst pipes and lots of water damage.
