Good idea but I'd just use that water for washing certain body parts and flushing toilets. Kaleva Feb 2021 #8

so the pipes don't freeze - especially if the pipes run along an uninsulated outside wall or basement or crawl space.

Unless the tub was first scrubbed clean and disinfected.

the incoming water lines are outside. I did not use an electrical pipe warmer, just insulation, but it was not enough as the power went out at 4am this morning and by noon the pipes froze even with water running.

I probably could have done more, but I spent 20 years in Minnesota and never had a pipe freeze or a power outage due to a little ice.

Texas. Yup.

thaw out the frozen exposed pipe with a hair dryer or heat gun if you have one.

They changed our forecast. We were supposed to get another foot of snow tonight, but now the majority of it is going just north of us. Damn cold though--wind chills below zero.

Had the 500 gallon LP tank filled last week so if needed, I can heat the home using the stovetop burners. It'd be darn chilly in most of the house but nothing will freeze.
