I just measured the snow in the yard. It's at 18 inches and still snowing.

In SW Arkansas! A 4 inch snow here is huge. I don't remember anything like it.

4. The power has stayed on - so far.

The street department in our little town only has one snow plow blade that it bolts to a dump truck. They won't begin to try to clear the streets until the snow stops. (It will stop - right?)

The temperature has been hovering in the teens for a longer period of time than I ever remember.

We ain't real smart in Arkansas sometimes but at least we ain't Texas trying to run our own electrical grid, apparently held together with baling wire and bubble gum.

shooting the power lines for not cooperating.

I kid... but not by that much.

7. The lore in my family is that my GG-Grandfather traveled west from Tennessee avoiding creditors.

When he got to the Red River, there was a big sign that said "GOOD LAND ENDS HERE." Being illiterate, he pushed on into Texas.

When my grandfather learned to read, he moved the family back to Arkansas.
