It was found in a sewing room, but doesn't necessarily mean it's a sewing item. Might be, though.

The wood is mahogany, which indicates it's not just some cheapo one-time use item.
2.25" x 3" The tiny sticker says, M?t? Mahogany, the ? marks being illegible. It might be some kind of belt hanger except the hook would be backwards. Also it has no way to mount, so it must lay down as shown.

wire part is connected to belt and hook goes to relevant hole

It would stink as a bottle cap opener, but I would try it if I couldnt find a good one.

the hook and hangers on the loop. I could be wrong. There's always a first time!
