A 1929 colorized video of construction workers on the Chrysler building in New York.

At 1,046 feet it is the tallest brick building in the world with a steel framework, and was world's tallest building for 11 months after its completion in 1930.

Watching this made my palms sweat! Seriously.

No one would ever guess I've skydrive (not a tandem jump but solo) but I was most confident the chute would open. However, it's strange that I'd be 1000x more nervous that an accident could happen at that height on a bldg...unless I were chained to the structure in some way.

Once worked in the office of a construction company that had to use explosives & the expert on the job was a native Cherokee who told me his cousins worked in skyscrape construction. Lack of fear can be genetic it seems.

Think twice. But when it’s a thousand feet down it’s a whole different story. For myself, when I worked on tall concrete structures I got pretty used to it. But getting high on some steel framework that sways in the wind or when a truck comes by...never got used to that. But I suppose if I did it every day I’d get used to it. I think of some jobs I had when I was younger that I got used to after awhile and it was just a job.

There were over 3,000 workers who built the Chrysler Building, and ZERO recorded deaths. The nearby Empire State Building recorded the deaths of five workers in its construction.

These people were both incredibly talented, and incredibly lucky- that Nobody died.
