Just saw the movie, Nomadland.

Excellent, though a little sad. I know it was meant to open your mind to seeing life through the eyes of people who have a rambling spirit, but I couldn't help thinking most of them make the best of a bad situation.

Anyway, what I really wanted to know was, how did these people make it through the unexpected winter storm in Texas? Some of them rely on jobs they get along the way, and may not have been able to leave Texas in time.

explains some of the differences between people in this lifestyle ("homeless" vs "those that love it" ).

I realize this doesn't answer your question.

Side note: You may recognize the main guy in this doc as playing a role in the movie also. His name is Bob Wells and he has a youtube channel called CheapRVliving. He has videos of interviews with MANY people doing this, and you might get a better feel for their attitudes about this subject.

were the actual people who lived the life.

It's just a p.o.v. that I can respect, but not truly understand. One common thread seems to be that they do not have the greatest relationships with their immediate families, or no longer have close family. What I can understand is that they don't care for the trappings of a capitalist world, nor do they put up with toxic relationships that are the usual part of living in a stationary community.

That's why I said, making the best of a bad situation.

Though, I absolutely can understand how someone of little means, will chose to be a rolling stone, rather than to be stuck in a house that he or she can't afford to keep. The uncertainty would be maddening.

That's what I liked most about it. No shame in their game. Just a little uninformed about the lies Trump told and tells. But very endearing people to me.

His raw honesty and emotion was the highlight of the film.

Apparently this is a life some people like.

No phone
No mail
No house
But then again no taxes.

I expected to see some inner changes in the heroine. Maybe a new appreciation of life. A rebirth, or a fulfillment of a dream. A new way of relating to others. Something. Even a late life love relationship, or a renewed appreciation of people, or family.

Maybe I missed the message.
