I adopted a year old Husky in late September. He had spent some time wild, was in deplorable shape when captured. Not only has he finally shed all the matted fur, but the total trust and playfulness just beams now, the cowering when approached has finally subsided. There's a clue to what sort of situation he ran away from-- He still growls and becomes visibly neck hair straight up threatening to anyone who reeks of marijuana.
He retains some socialization issues. He's such a natural alpha that I can only let him play with large "beta's" at the dog park. But I'm working on that. He responds so well to positive reinforcement, and has gotten to where only a stern look stops bad chewing.
All my fur babies have been rescues, and it has always been so rewarding and have nothing but warm fond memories of my past companions.

They average 13-16 years, and he is still very healthy....but we also know that 75% of his life is behind him, and anything can happen on any given day.

So far, he has survived getting into the baking supplies and eating a half-pound of baking chocolate. His prognosis was grim, and he had to spend 24-48 hours in the animal hospital and get treatments. They called us in 10 hours and told us to pick him up, because they couldn't make him any healthier than he was. Subdued for a day, but was his old self after that.

Same story with pancreatitis a couple of years ago. Took him in when they opened, and they called at dinner time, describing his recovery as "spectacular."

He has also survived a very serious bacterial infection and being hit by a car. I call him Cairn of Steel.

He has that berserk behavior as in the video, as well. Strangest thing. His is multi-faceted and consistent.

And, though it doesn't mean anything, "Michelina" from the video is the spitting image of our next-door neighbour.

As ALWAYS, I am a sucker for these videos.

That's where I fell in love with Cairn terriers. I hope you have a lot of time with your little Cairn of Steel.
