It’s funny when you hit the weird connections our minds create and trying to break them. It is like keeping some fingers down while moving other fingers in music.

I wonder if there’s a term for this. It would be cool to know what else triggers that feeling in people.

Guess what supposed disability group does this better than so-called normal people?

dyslexic folks, non-readers. If you can't recognize the words, you only see the colors,

Is this an actual diagnostic for dyslexia? Even if just a screen, seems so easy that any teacher who suspects a Dx could administer and then advise parents to followup with MD.

brainteasers to make it less tedious. I got that one last week and did it perfectly. It is a matter of slowing down and naming the color, not reading the word.

How fast you can do it is part of how it is diagnostic.

There is no ONE test that can be used to diagnose complex conditions, including dyslexia. It takes a whole battery.

Needless to say, we weren't timed. I am very slightly dyslexic, although that might not even be the correct term for my very mild impairment. I sometimes see words wrong, and most of time immediately reread and see it correctly. I know I have to be very careful with numbers so as not to transpose them.

You will see all kinds of dyslexia screening tests on line but most of them are worthless, except as entertainment. Same as IQ tests online. There are all different kids of intelligence that contribute to general intelligence. Then there is social intelligence, emotional intelligence, which have no specific tests, but a psychologist/neuropsychologist can get a strong feel for those, just from the interaction with the client being tested.

I spent my early career doing differential diagnosis among all sorts of intellectual disabilities with a team made up of a Developmental Pediatrician, Social Worker, Educational Specialist and Psychologist. It took input from all of these to determine the speciific diagnosis and prognosis.

As you can imagine, this is waaaay too complicated for a Republican brain to understand, one of the reasons that school services never really serve the kids who need it most!

Took my glasses off.

The words were a blur and I couldn't read them.

But the colors were easily seen.
