Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHelp me find my car key! It's a 2020 Nissan Sentra.
we were out getting our covid shot, hubby was driving. When we got home I checked to find my car key and couldn't find it.
No problem. Hubby has his.
I deduced my key was in the car. Why? Once we were in the house (car engine off) I unlocked the car with his key and left it in the house with door shut.
I got in the car and pressed the starter and the car started.
So does that mean MY key is somewhere in the car?
But I can't locate it!

(986 posts)First thing to do is calm down, I do this all the time.
It's either on you or in the car
This is a keyless ignition, correct?

(63,912 posts)I will slide the seats in case they are under one.
I already checked the ground where the car door is near. Will try glove compartment.

I had even called Subaru about getting a new one.
But you need to relax , have a cup of tea and something to eat, when you stop thinking so hard it may come to you

(63,912 posts)miraculously able to fish it out. I'll have to find a large keyring.

(30,740 posts)I had that happen to me. The key was lodged in a place that could not be seen.
Getting the key out from under that seat was no fun, either.
Good luck.

(63,912 posts)a "fob." And it's great that you can start the car and get it warming up from your house.
I'll try sliding the seats all the way backward and all the way forward.

(63,912 posts)My dealer's service dept. quoted me a charge of $289 to replace it!.
What I have to do is find a bigger key fob that can't fall between the seat and middle of the car.
What do you suggest?

(30,740 posts)put over your wrist. Then, when you get it out of your purse or pocket, you can wear it while you are getting it out or putting it away.
Or else, find a really large key chain. I have one of those that has an "M" on it. It is too big to lose.
Someone suggested a lanyard. I like that idea better.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)I can slip it on my wrist.

(8,747 posts)The kind that has a clip on one end. Find a place to clip it to, even if you have glue a loop somewhere.
Or use velcro. Put one piece on the interior, the other to the back of the fob.

(25,857 posts)But you should not be able to lock it if there's one inside. At least my Honda won't let me do that.

(986 posts)You need to make sure your husband fob is 33 ft away from car. If it is and the car still starts, the key is in the car or close by

Have to say i immediately thought of this comedy video, and now do anytime someone loses their keys.
