51st wedding anniversary today

and the last time we went to dinner to celebrate was exactly one year ago.

Not going out to dinner today.

8. after a year of lockdown

we finally got vaxxed last week. and after 51 years of wedded bliss it's really hard to find fun things to do.

Let me put it this way.

We're well on the way to not being able to read the scrabble tiles.

Depending on physical ability, go for a nice long walk together holding hands and talking. Or go for a long drive with no music, just talking about your journey. Go home to a nice home cooked together dinner, alcohol (optional), cozy snuggly evening of listening to music or silent togetherness. The point being slow down, savor and enjoy the blessing of having your best friend to hang with for 51 years. CONGRATULATIONS!

Pack a basket of food you both enjoy. Keep it simple but delicious.

Make sure there are cards to exchange - homemade and handwritten. Keep them a secret until the exchange.

Just some silly, romantic fun.

Wine/champagne if you both indulge. Both only just enough.

Chocolate, but only a small amount - a piece a piece.

You're tasting life, so to speak - not gobbling it all up at once.

Like marriage - it's the long term - the small joys over time.

You can even put reminders of special moments from those 51 years in the basket. Small tokens that bring a smile to both of you.
