while scrolling through the names of wifi near my home to get to mine and try to connect, I ran across one that made me LOL:
This Is Not My Beautiful Wifi

(16,944 posts)It seems to have something to do with their updates. I've had at least 5 Kindles since they were first introduced and never run into this issue before recently.
I've found that restarting the device usually does the trick though I still have to go into the settings for it to find my wifi. If that doesn't work, try deleting and re-entering your wifi ID in settings.

(68,340 posts)because of one of their updates, since all of my Kindles have the same problem. (I have several Kindles, because I keep 4 plugged in at once so I can keep reading if the battery needs recharging on the one I am using. Also, I buy them 3 at a time when Amazon has "3 for" sales so I can give them as gifts and also so I have new ones when my constant reading wears them out, which actually does happen.
So now I am sitting at my desktop (which I don't actually like to do) and hoping Amazon eventually figures out what has happened and sends another update to fix the problem.
But I still love the name "This Is Not My Beautiful Wifi."

(23,612 posts)sometimes these are kindle updates and sometimes Chrome, Firefox, or Windows itself. It really annoys me when I need to synch my purse size kindle to the Fire.
I managed to make it into the secret safety room of the service reps and she walked me through the updates. It was tedious but it worked.
My Kindle Fire is 6 years old which does not help .
Here is the strange thing: sometimes I can pull up Pinterest on the Kindle and take it in the kitchen to use a recipe. Other times that will not work at all so I end up with the laptop sitting on the countertop.
I love using Pinterest because I don't have to print anything. I am getting ready to cull my seriously huge cookbook collection as part of the sizing down.
Good luck with online!

(28,485 posts)I'm trying to remember, and I think there was some easy way just to put the very few things I'd had on the first Kindle over to the second.

(11,155 posts)and all are on the current firmware and I have no issue connecting to my WiFi. Are you using a 2,4 ghz SSID or 5 ghz SSID?

(14,118 posts)two wifi puters connect to our cable internet using that. And that's in addition to two LAN puter
connections we use.
