March always makes me feel better even if it is a horrible month. Sometimes it is so nice sometimes not but the closeness to Spring is lovely. We start our severe weather week tomorrow, that always helps let us know that Spring is just around the corner. YAY!

One year ago this week was when I started thinking seriously about the new flu-like disease that was developing around the world. It seemed inevitable that the U.S. would become infected. I wasn't sure we were prepared-- neither personally nor nationally-- to handle a pandemic.

Once that door of thinking was opened, I began thinking of a plan to retreat from New York City to our house in the Catskills. I never dreamed we'd still be here a year later.
