I'm thinking of buying one, it's a basic 21-speed bicycle with an electric motor too.

(16,834 posts)having a ball with them. My dad is in his early 70s and mom is in her late 60s. They weren't using their regular bikes anymore because it took so much effort, so they decided to get the electric bikes. The bikes are helping them get out of the house and ride around on nature trails and such. They aren't cheap, though. I could buy an old car for what they paid for those bikes.

Mr. Golddogs and I have them, we love them. Theyre a lot of fun and make cruising longer trails a joy.
eta: I have the storm cloud color and he has the blue. Theyre great-looking bikes, even better than in the pictures.

(10,096 posts)He got the low end model from Costco and a friend of his got an upper model with fat tires and all. I need to start getting out and getting some exercise and theres no use fooling myself about my capabilities. I gave my old bike to my niece a few years ago and havent ridden, but I know I wouldnt do very well. Even before all my back surgeries I couldnt go very far. I think Id do better now as far as my back goes but Im pretty out of shape these days. It would be good to go for a ride and just get some exercise but have the electric motor to fall back on. Sounds like they can get pretty pricey if you get some extra battery capacity.

(72,377 posts)with no word of warning, just send us toward the ditch. They are more moped than bicycle. That said, Im jealous of the pedal assist for big hills. I bet I will cave and get one someday when my arthritis gets too gnarly.
Good luck finding one that suits you. Keep in mind some trails wont allow higher classes on them. Try renting a few to see what you like..
