11 years ago I desperately needed a better car. I searched online, in car lots, kept my ears perked when friends talked about selling their car.
I eventually found a 2000 Toyota Avalon with only 56,000 miles on it. Less than $10,000. I snatched it up and have driven it basically problem free since then. It now has 252,000 miles on it.
It became apparent that we needed a third car to accommodate my daughter's work schedule. I started the search again.
I found a 2015 Lexus RX 350. 57,000 miles. Less than $23,000. It's in perfect condition and fully loaded! It even has special edition leather, even though that was not something I was looking for or particularly care about.
The dealer was super nice and helped me out. I'm so excited! It's a sweet ride!

(42,085 posts)It is also very comfortable.
I bought my daughter a used Lexus RX 350 when she was in grad school, got a great deal from a relative.
It had a lot more miles than your Lexus.
Daughter is in the medical field and had to drive all over the place for her clinical rotations so the RX was perfect.
Sometimes late at night in snow and ice. So I wanted a safe reliable car for her.

(42,085 posts)Both the Camry and the RX are fabulous cars.
I drove a Camry for many years. Loved it.
You are going to love the RX. It is such a great car.
My daughter now drives a Honda HR-V which reminds her of the Lexus she drove for a long time.
The RX really spoils you.
What color is the RX and the leather?
AwakeAtLast
(14,076 posts)The saddle color is growing on me, I initially didn't like it.
Edit to add: yes, I'm already spoiled!

(42,085 posts)My daughter's old Lexus had the off white leather and it was gorgeous.
She got the same color leather in her new Honda SUV.
I think the black exterior with the saddle leather is very sharp, very sophisticated.
I love that look.

(22,566 posts)I hope not.
I can see you wanting to drive the Lexus after 21 years in an old car. But man, you are so good at getting a good deal on used cars, I hope you're getting her one that is at least safe.

(14,076 posts)She will drive our 2005 Camry, which she likes, while she saves money for her own car. Luckily most of the time she goes to work with her Dad. He eventually wants to get a truck. It has taken a lot of hard work to get to this point, hence my excitement!
Edit to add: that Avalon is one of the safest cara I've ever driven, and we keep it up to date with tires, brakes, etc. It even has side air bags!

(15,752 posts)I bought my 2015 car in 2018 for $25k, half of its new cost. It had 5,000 miles on it and lots of bells and whistles.
Ive added about 15k miles to that total since buying it. Its probably my last fun car - Mercedes c350 coupe. Once Dh retires I may look at selling it. Im just not driving it much because we both work from home and we dont go anywhere regularly. If we do go anywhere we generally take his truck because we tend to bring our two dogs with us. They dont fit in the coupe that well.
