Captain Hughey broke a plate he knocked off the coffee table. Without me

doing anything to correct him, he has put himself to bed. He is usually out here all evening. I miss him. But it is also nice not being his pin cushion. I think he is growing up. What do your pets do when they've been bad?

So when he scratches at the sofa, he just looks at me arrogantly, daring me to object.

and makes a mess of that. I'm looking for him to find out the wood scratching post is a thing too. Harder to destroy. More natural. But so far he is not into the wooden post.

My husband and I found a rocking chair with beautiful lines at a junk store not long after we married. Basically it was just a frame with tatters of leather clinging to it, the wood was almost black. But it had the most gorgeous style, so we bought it - I think it was maybe $30.

We got the wood refinished to a golden oak, and then had it rebuilt for upholstering with a deep burgundy leather. Took it home and my husband's cat got on and tested his claws the first day. The cat's been dead twenty seven years, but his mark remains.

I'll never spend money on another piece of smooth leather furniture. Maybe I'll try suede someday.

He was the cat my husband brought into our relationship and lived with my husband for over 19 years. At least this memory doesn't involve blood...

I wonder if that is partly the cat parasite zombie effect?

Can a cat parasite control your mind?

is wild. I know I have this because they tested me when I got pregnant. Because I already had it there was no problem with me cleaning the litter boxes.

And I was a business major and have taken more risks than average.

to knock things down. I gave him a few seconds of a belly rub but left before he could decide to attack my hands like they were a small rodent (he never gets to go outside so he has not been near a real rodent).

When he breaks something, he just sits there looking proud of himself. Because, you know, he's a cat.
