(442 posts)My parents took me to a theater to see it when I was 9. Horrible idea. Genuinely messed me up for years.
These are the same parents that chastised my older brother for taking me to see Jesus Christ Superstar because I was "too young".

(4,606 posts)It traumatized the hell out of me as a 10 year old. I had issues looking in mirrors for years after seeing it. I still dont like mirrors, or kids talking in low, creepy voices and writing backwards shit on dusty windows.
Might have to rewatch it and see if its a creepy as I remember.
ETA: Now I cant get that stupid movie out of mind:

(11,098 posts)There has been nothing since that had quite the same impact. It scared the bejezus outta me.
Niagara
(7,605 posts)was Salem's Lot. It's considered a miniseries and not an actual movie, but that doesn't change the intensity on the spook-o-meter.

As an adult, I enjoy reading horror novels and watching the movies.
Congratulation to all on the milestones.
Ocelot II
(115,683 posts)Both were terrifying but in very different ways.
Coventina
(27,115 posts)I managed to cat-nap during the day, but all night I was watching fluffy movies for those three nights.
I specifically remember renting "An American in Paris" and "Beauty and the Beast" (the animated Disney one).
There were a bunch of others, but those are the two I remember.
I was in college, and housesitting for my great aunt.
