I doubt it was the weight loss that threw the doggo off. Dude probably had all kinds of weird smells all over him from the hospital, masking his personal scent. The dog had to get really close to him to get a good whiff and realize who he was. And once he did, how adorable!

Barked at me for four or five minutes after I got out of the car before she came over and sniffed me, then--"Oh, yeah, I know you. You're my Hooman!"
