but over the course of two nights when I was stationed in Missouri. She spent two nights just sitting next to the screen door while this stray black cat just quietly sat on the other side of the screen door. It was so sweet to watch, but the cat didn't show up on the third day.

but she was just sitting there, quietly, as was the other cat. No meows, no movement, no nothing...just two buds chilling.

9. I've had multiple cats, rabbits, ferrets, and dogs

They all got along after they figured out their "place".

Some of the cross-species actually became best buddies.

Not sure I liked cleaning up after the ferrets and rabbits.... Dogs and cats seemed to know where to go, usually.

He used play with the feral rabbits in the garden - until he begged his way into the house.

After about 3 months inside he camethrough his cat door, proudly displayed his squealing grazer catch, as he ran to the basement with his trophy supper.

Thought of renaming him Drumph!

11. Over the years we've had five cats - three black cats one and a time and a pair of Siamese cats....

For some reason black cats are the best behaved and have interesting personalities. I've really gotten attached to this one. I could do without the Siamese, but they came along with my wife, so overall it was a good "package deal"!

We got this one from a shelter as a kitten. The one before this one was a stray that was hanging outside our apartment building when I got home from work one night. It followed me from the parking lot to the front door. When I got upstairs I asked my wife, "do you think we should feed her?". She sheepishly answered, "I already did!" Shortly after that she was ours for good!

You never own a cat. They remain feral and tolerate the bald human cats who feed them.
