They protect us, give us unconditional love and hope. In our worst times they make us better.

(2,353 posts)My favorite part is when Bruiser hears his buddy crying and goes back to comfort him. Then he settles down and stays with his boy.
God I love dogs.

(3,312 posts)thirty plus years ago as they denied their children any pets...they had all grown up and moved away before my sister-in-law got a dog. In my opinion all kids need a dog or at least a pet of some type. This video is just amazing...that kid knows what love is!

(11,546 posts)As children, we occasionally had a dog, and some "farm cats". I say occasionally, because the dog would either run off or something would happen. None were ever allowed in the house.
It's not the same at all, and I now feel terrible for the dogs we had outside who also didn't get the attention they deserved. I can't now imagine not having your animals indoors, they are part of the family.

(1,181 posts)I desperately wanted a cat or dog but my mother claimed she was allergic (it didnt occur to me at the time that she didnt explain how she managed growing up with a dog herself). I had a very lonely and unhappy childhood and know I wouldve benefited greatly from having a real pet I could cuddle and interact with. Since moving out on my own Ive had both and I love them more than the vast majority of people.

This video answers that question.
