(21,751 posts)I have always admired Jane Goodall. She has achieved so much for not only chimps, but for animal life in general, as well as the environment. In the process, her work also makes life better for humans, by bringing us to a better appreciation of nature and making us more humane.

(14,073 posts)I attended a lecture she gave at the University of Colorado in the 80s.
Her full throated chimpanzee vocalizations were a special treat.
I'll always love her.

(6,133 posts)I was the director of the student run Women's Center and we co-sponsored her speech. She was so very nice and gracious.
Also nice was poet, June Jordan. We sponsored her and I got to have dinner with her. She was an amazing woman. She was staying at the same hotel as Aerosmith when they were in town for a concert. Ms. Jordan was intrigued by their music and insisted we stop at a record store so she could purchase their cassette tape. I really enjoyed meeting these women.

(15,011 posts)Dr Goodall is amazing.
I was at an Environmental event at the UN in the mid-'80s where she was one of the speakers. She started with her full chimp cry.
I swear the jungle sprung up all around me! Almost! 🙂
