The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsLook at the gem I found when I was looking for a hack to create a funnel.
Needed a funnel to water an orchid that is in distress. I didn't want to add to the stress by wetting the leaves or crown. So I did a search for funnel hacking and came up with a creepy business practice.
Has anyone else noticed how "business" is the root of all evil?
Funnel Hacking:
Funnel hacking is the process of digging into your competitors' marketing funnels and using versions of those funnels to sell your own products. First, list out some competitors to investigate, go through their funnel, and make a note of the 'sales triggers' they use.

Thanks, in advance.
is about how a lot of amoral capitalistic businesses exploit the system... and I believe most of us already know that
also about how sometimes we accidently learn new things, when we're not even looking

(21,106 posts)I cut the bottom off a sturdy water bottle, taped a piece of 3/4 in tubing to the bottle mouth and voila. I now have a gravel cleaner for my aquarium. I just put the bottle into the tank, suck a vacuum on the tube and use it to suck all the crap out of the gravel and into a 5 gallon bucket that is lower than the water level.

There is a lot of debate surrounding the marketing funnelfrom who owns it, be it marketing or sales, to whether or not its still relevant to todays consumer buying process.

What is the marketing funnel?
The marketing funnel is a visualization for understanding the process of turning leads into customers, as understood from a marketing (and sales) perspective. The idea is that, like a funnel, marketers cast a broad net to capture as many leads as possible, and then slowly nurture prospective customers through the purchasing decision, narrowing down these candidates in each stage of the funnel.
Ideally, this marketing funnel would actually be a marketing cylinder, and all of your leads would turn into customers. Though this is not a reality for businesses, it is part of a marketers job to turn as many leads into customers as possible, thus making the funnel more cylindrical.
Its important to note that there is not a single agreed upon version of the funnel; some have many stages while others have few, with different names and actions taken by the business and consumer for each. In the diagram below, weve done our best to pull out the most common and relevant funnel stages, terms, and actions so this information is useful to as many marketers as possible.

sure, what I learned was in the context of cake icing and decorating but then the basic
concept is useful for your purpose. Or if you were in my house you could use one of the
plastic funnels you already have on hand!
