frazzled
(18,402 posts)Friends of ours had 2 retired rescue greyhounds that they babied like children into old age, until one and then the other passed to doggie heaven. They loved those greyhounds so much that after a while they decided to adopt another. It was fine for a year or so, and then one day when the wife bent down to say goodbye to the dog before leaving for work, it suddenly jumped and attacked her, tearing off half her (beautiful) face. She underwent several surgeries and a long recovery. They wouldnt let the dog be taken, and fortunately got the adoption place to take it back. But it was highly traumatic, both physically and psychologically.

I was surprised at how large they are. Once she knew me she would stand on her hind legs, wrap her paws around my neck and hug me. Such a sweetie.
