The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAwesome sign at my eye doctor's office today.
I admit that I was a cheapskate where my glasses were concerned, having found Foster Grant multi-focus glasses just right for my aging eyes. However, after turning 65, I thought I'd better have a professional check my eyes out since I hadn't had them examined since the mid-1980s (I know...) Anyway, there was a sign right when you walk in that stated:
That made me feel safer, especially given what has transpired the last couple of weeks. And they keep the front door locked as it's by appointment only.
So, if any DUers living in south/central lower Michigan need eye care, L.O. Eyecare has 10 locations around this neck of the woods.
Oh, BTW, no cataracts, no signs of glaucoma, everything looked good. Yay! I'm wearing sunglasses in the house because they really dilate your pupils, lol. I did decide to get prescription lenses and boy, they're hella expensive. 😳

(6,080 posts)I need to see someone soon for an exam and new glasses. I have been putting it off due to covid, but get my 2nd vaccine dose around April 7th. I expect I will start venturing out about the end of April.

(16,254 posts)I'll have to see if he also has a sign. I hope other offices do the same.
It is a satellite office from the University and are they ever expensive, but good. Medicare should take care of today...I hope. Otherwise, I may have to visit my cardiologist, too.

(32,674 posts)Never felt all that bad and if my GF wasn't an RN I wouldn't have made it to the hospital. She knows the first signs. I just told her I was kind of tired and she took my pulse. She told me to hop in the car we are going to the ER, your pulse is 28 bpm.

(32,674 posts)Didn't really feel too bad just shaking like crazy. She said hop in and away we went. Got 3 COVID the first night and my temp went up to 103. They told me I had sepsis. I just thought that was an infection in the blood stream. She told me Sepsis is 50% fatal for those that get it. She is an angle.

(43,146 posts)and can handle, sometimes, the measurement between eyes (because not every prescription is written with one, or wasn't last time I looked), you could go no frills online. I haven't purchased from these guys

but they are on my list. Use your own frame is a rare one indeed.

(67,782 posts)....I made the mistake years ago of having my eyes checked at lunchtime by my doctor about 20 miles from work, on a sunny day! I actually had to pull over in a rest stop for about 15 minutes to let my eyes return to somewhat normal.
