Bathroom sink aeerator tip for water pressure from Good Morning America - *works*!1

Last edited Fri Mar 26, 2021, 08:28 PM - Edit history (1)

Glanced at a "Dad Tips" segment where the dude said that removing/cleaning the "aeerator" would fix the low pressure. Unscrewing the gadget in the tip of the spout, washing it out.

Mine wasn't an "innie," it was an "outie". When I figured that out and removed it, the water POURED out. So what's an aeerator FOR anyway - to make the flow "bubbly"?!1

Am now taking it a step further and soaking it in white vinegar.

*********ON EDIT: Perhaps I could find out what it's for if I spelled it correctly. Fixed it from "aereator".

1. It is usually sediment that gets in them but ...

yes hard water scale can build up on them too. Vinegar should dissolve that. Be careful taking them apart. Some of them have several parts and they have to go back in the correct order. I try just back flushing them first before doing anything else.

It took me several tries to get the stupid thing back together with things right side up and and the right order. I like Moen faucets. They come with a little plastic tool to take the aerator out.

we don't have much pressure and for most of my life we were only on gravity flow, these water saving devices are good in some places to save water but I confess to sounding like the orange menace for many years over the shower flow around here.

it was with the aeerator OUT. After diddling around two hours first with vinegar then with LimeAway, when the thing was screwed back in the flow was about the same as before. I ask again what the dang aeerator is for!1
