do some melodramatic licking inside her empty dish, making it rattle.
That's preferable to her other technique of tossing everything in sight onto the floor until I notice that the dish needs refilling.
I had a border collie years ago who used to carry his dish into the living room while we watched TV. He set the dish at our feet and waited for us to notice. Barked if he thought it took us too long.
