4. I rarely go to live sports - best is probably a Red Sox game when I was really young -June 15 1971

I was in the marching band in high school. One year our team went to the state finals, and the next year they went to regionals (third round out of five).

A few years later, my university's football team played in the Motor City Bowl (now renamed).

I also saw a walk-off win by the West Michigan Whitecaps many years ago (this would've been in the 1990s).

In terms of major league games, there was nothing like seeing my Red Wings shut out the Blackhawks in Chicago in 2001-2002. They won the Cup that season.

When I was born, in suburban Chicago, 1959, she named me after Terry Sawchuk.

I could have been little Bobby, or Stan, but nooooooo.

Still young at the time, but our Dad made sure we went to every Family Day game at Fenway Park while we were still kids. It was always a thrill to see Ted Williams, Frank Malzone, Jim Monbouquette, Jimmy Piersall and then "the Yaz".

My father was a buyer of sporting goods for Sears in Chicago, and Ted Williams had his name on everything from fishing gear to dumbbells.

My dad always said that "every was always the greatest or the worst" with him, and that he wasn't a pleasant hunting or fishing companion, but when Williams died, I saw a tear roll down my old man's cheek.

Got to see Gretzky score a goal.

Saw an Expos game at Wrigley Field that began with the ninth inning from the previous afternoon's game, which was called on account of darkness. Cubs tied it and played eight or nine extra innings, then they played the regularly scheduled game.

Saw the first ever game between the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs at Mile-Hi Stadium. 2-1 Chicago on a Rick Wilkins homer.

Walter Payton scoring in MNFer vs. Denver.

Elway's first two seasons home games.

Patrick Roy's 300th win...

I've seen some good ones.
