No medical emergency, but question about odd healing.

So my husband sustained a major hit to the calf muscle when a heavy, tall foundation for a bench tipped over and hit him as he was walking away. Big bump formed on his calf and he had minor scrapes. Washing the wound, icing and neosporin took care of it, and now, five days later, he's almost all healed up. No signs of bruising. Except for one thing.

He noticed in the instep of his foot, it's all black and blue. He doesn't feel any pain. Does anyone have any idea of why this bruise formed in an area where he wasn't hit?

I would end up bruised around my chin. Once I took a shot in the forehead and ended up with 2 black eyes, gravity takes over.

A lot of bruising in my foot.
Nurses told me the blood pools at the lowest point.

was higher up in the leg where there was not much bruising. I disputed what they were telling me, but the doctor showed me the X-ray where I could clearly see a broken bone higher up in the leg. Not much bruising at that location. Which is strange, because it was such a bad break I needed two rods and lots of pins to hold the bone together. But little bruising at that spot. But a foot that looked like it had been run over.

When an injury occurs, there can damage to the blood vessels, tissue as well as bones.
So there is a lot of blood which goes to the lowest point.

been hit on the foot as well, but it was minor by comparison to what happened to him on his calf muscle. We'll keep monitoring it. He's still not sure.

I have had lots of big bruises over my life, they drift down hill. do be careful of internal clots, if there is lots of pain get an ultrasound.

also I had a very weird incidence a few years ago - ended up with an abscess in a spot that had bruised 9 months earlier, never opened the skin but it formed anyway and it took several surgeries and almost 2 years to finally heal.

If he feels pain in his foot, we'll probably take him to the doctor.

first she had a black eye
then the bruise began to drop.
she had a bruise that went to her collarbone almost.
a slow blood leak spreads like if you put drops on a paper towel or something....

Well, in my husband's case, it can't go lower than his instep.
