2. Our neighbor used to have six tall poplar trees on the west border of his property.

Not long after we bought our house, I was sitting on the deck, drinking a cup of coffee while looking across to his yard, when a bird landed at the very top of one of the trees. For a few seconds, the top of the tree swayed back-and-forth several feet. I thought about how frightening that must have been until I remembered it was a bird. “It’s not scared you schmuck. It can fly!”
